What a fun day we had today! Hooray for more smiles and less goodbye tears! Our happy campers had fun making challah and sensory bottles! We celebrated our first Shabbat and had a blast in the sun playing with water. After a very yummy lunch we had a beautiful Shabbat sing!
In Shachor today, we were busy bears! Outside we did lots of water play activities and enjoyed hoopla hoops, tumbling mats and the balance beam. We also learned parts of a tree, how to tell a tree’s age, and some of the ways trees help us. While learning about trees, we made necklaces with wood beads and slices of a branch.
Today we went on a scavenger hunt around the school and in the garden to find items for our art project. Then we used spary bottles with colored water to create spray art on the play ground.
Today we made alphabet art using materials form nature, made rain sticks, and did spray art on the play yard with colored water.
Today we finished up our Earth project with all the items we collected from our scavenger hunt. The children also play in our dress up area and made Lavender scented play dough.
Today we had an exciting time playing with Teacher Mark! On the playground we played on the balance beam, visited the sharks house, hiked through cone mountains, swam in hoop lakes, and hid from bears under the parachute. Later in the day we walked to Hamlin Garden and talked about being “shomrei adamah” or guardians of the earth.
Our Jewish value this summer is Shomrei Adama (Guardians of the Earth). We visited the Justice Garden where we practiced some Yoga poses. During our play time outside we had fun with the parachute and practiced some fine motor skills by squeezing colored water out of spray bottles onto a canvas. Join us tomorrow in the courtyard for our Shabbat sing at 12:30!
Today we painted a butterfly, climbed on the foam structure blocks outside, played with the parachute, and did spray bottle painting.
Today we did sponge/finger paintings of earth. We looked at a picture of earth from space and saw water, land, and sky. We used three colors on our earth for each element. We also took a trip to the little garden and collected “earth treasures” that will be added to our sensory table. See you Friday!
The Shachor group celebrated Super Hero Day in style! Not only did our friends dress up, they made their very own super hero masks. We even began talking about how we can be super heros for the Earth. We also celebrated Daniel’s 4th birthday!
